The Playstation guides gamers through the maze created by companies such as Microsoft and Nintendo. They came to offer us something different, to cure the problem that existed at the time. However since 1994, when the first Playstation hit the scene. Playstation has grown from being the alternative to the main player to being the ultimate console in the eyes of many.

At the start of Sony’s journey in the world of console gaming. Nintendo and specifically Microsoft were Playstation guides. Sony reacted to them and followed suit. Either providing gamers with the same titles or targeting them with the same genres.

Although these titles are cross-platform today, back in the early days they were exclusively under the domain of Playstation. These titles as well as others really assisted Playstation in marking it’s territory and joining ranks with the likes of Nintendo and Sony.

Today Playstation boasts a succesion of 5 highly successful consoles and 2 hand held devices. In fact, the Playstation one holds the record for being the first console to shift 100 million units. It’s the successor, the Playstation 2 still holds the record today of being the best selling console. However the most striking record was set by Sony’s latest the release, the Playstation 5. The Playstation guides the industry yet again. It’s release of the Playstation 5 in 2020 saw 10 million units being sold within 9 months  of it’s release.
